Can I opt out of or close my child’s Trump Account?

No. Treasury opens accounts automatically for eligible children, and the official Trump Accounts Help Center says account creation can’t be opted out of. Once an account has been claimed, it can’t be closed, however it was created. You don’t have to claim it: there is no deadline, an unclaimed account stays open with any money in it still invested, and when your child turns 18 it becomes a traditional IRA in their name.
